Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting students with special needs across Carbon and Lehigh Counties! This contract opportunity is perfect for passionate educators ready to utilize their expertise in special education within a variety of classroom environments. As an itinerant special education professional, you'll play a key part in ensuring continuity of service for students by covering staff absences, extended leaves, or supporting in established classrooms as needed. Your adaptability and commitment to student success will make an immediate impact throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
Key Qualifications:
Active Pennsylvania teaching license Current PDE Certification (must be verifiable through TIMS) Experience in special education settings, including direct instruction and behavioral support Demonstrated participation in IEP development and implementation Willingness to work in-person only, traveling within
Carbon or Lehigh Counties Primary Responsibilities:
Provide instructional and behavioral support to students with diverse learning needs Implement individualized education plans, collaborating with classroom staff and service providers Adapt quickly to new classroom settings and maintain a positive, productive learning environment Serve various schools across assigned counties, stepping into different roles as coverage needs arise Maintain accurate records and communication with school teams and administrators
