Job Description

A current vacancy exists for a LTS Special Education Teacher within the Norristown Area School District at Cole Manor Elementary School.

Qualifications:

PA Certification Special Education K-12

Bachelor's Degree

FBI, Criminal Background, and Child Abuse clearances

Bilingual in Spanish Preferred

Duties & Job Responsibilities:

Designs and implements appropriate instruction of assigned subject in accordance with students' needs, District curriculum, and state standards

Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning where students employ work/study habits which have been clearly defined

Provides an education atmosphere consistent with the District's instructional goals

Monitors student behavior to ensure it is consistent with District policy

Designs and implements instruction that encourages student participation in learning activities

Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students

Utilizes appropriate instructional strategies to address individual student differences

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive, and safe classroom environment

Facilitates the development of good work/study habits in students

Conducts appropriate assessments of students' work and maintains accurate and regular data on students in areas of attendance and grades

Cooperates and collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, curriculum, and instructional methods

Communicates with parents/guardians to discuss student progress

Interacts with pupils, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner

Keeps abreast of best practices in the relevant subject area(s)
