Implement the special education evaluation process. Evaluate the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities. Support school staff with effective implementation of the students' individualized education plan. Participate in activities related to Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CCEIS) for identified students.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Certification:
Master's Degree' Valid Teacher Certification Valid Educational Diagnostician CertificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge in the administration and interpretation of tests used to assess intellectual development, academic achievement, functional skills, and learning style Knowledge of federal and state rules governing the education of students with disabilities Knowledge of researched-based best practices for providing special designed instruction for students with disabilities Ability to case manage and collaborate in the best interest of students Ability to communicate technical evaluation information to parents and teachers Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsMinimum Experience:
Three years teaching experience Special Ed Teaching Experience, preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES
Assessment:
Receive student referrals and implement the evaluation process. Select and administer formal and informal evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and Texas Education Agency regulations. Collect and organize relevant evaluation data from student's cumulative folder, classroom teachers(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resources. Conduct classroom observation and personal interviews. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team for the evaluation and identification of students referred for a full and individual evaluation. Participate in the IEP team to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedure. Provide instructional recommendations based on data provided through a student's full individual educational evaluation. Consult parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of evaluation data. Consult parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students. Consult with campus personnel on requirements of Child Find and referrals for evaluation.Program Management:

Compile, maintain, and file all reports and documents, whether physical or computerized, as required within specified timelines Encourage and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of specially designed instruction for students with disabilities Collaborate with school district staff in scheduling instructional classes, supplemental aids, and services to enhance student achievement Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of evaluation, placement, and planning for special education services Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulationsSchool Climate:
Communicate and interpret the philosophy of the district's general education and special education programs effectively with parents, school personnel, and community Assist in the coordination of procedures for student evaluation and the Admission, Review and Dismissal process Relate to staff, students, and parents, in ways that convey equality, mutual respect, and concern Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, staff, teachers, and/or the community Provide staff development to assist school personnel in the identification, understanding and teaching of students with disabilities School Improvement Conduct classroom observations Conduct parent interviews Provide recommendations to classroom teachers for implementation of the IEP Stay current regarding research-based instructional practices Facilitate the placement and success of students in the least restrictive environment Provide staff development to assist school personnel in the identification, understanding, and teaching of students with disabilities Work cooperatively with others in attaining district and special education program goals and objectives Work cooperatively with campus, transportation, and central office personnel to ensure schools are following federal, state, and local regulations for special education Professional Growth, Development and Practices Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment Attend evaluation/assessment related professional development opportunities Actively participate on campus and district committees when requested Maintain a professional and ethical manner as outlined in the Standards of Conduct for the Profession.
