Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support 5th grade students in a supportive school environment located in Portsmouth, RI. This full-time contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction and collaboration to meet diverse educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction during one period of resource time. Collaborate in co-taught or push-in settings for 3 to 4 periods. Manage a caseload of 9 students directly, while servicing 15-17 students in reading and writing. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs. Communicate effectively with staff, families, and students to foster positive educational outcomes. Maintain a classroom environment that supports inclusive learning and student growth.Qualifications:
Current Rhode Island teaching license with certification in Special Education. Willingness to obtain a National Background Check Information (BCI). Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in special education settings, preferred. Strong collaboration and communication skills to thrive in co-teaching models.
