Jul 1, 2026 Job Description The Woonsocket Career and Technical Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Criminal Justice Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher to launch and grow a newly approved Criminal Justice CTE program authorized by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). This is a unique opportunity to help build a program from the ground up and positively impact students preparing for careers in law enforcement, public safety, corrections, and related criminal justice fields. The position will begin part-time during the initial phase of implementation, with the expectation of growth to a full-time role as enrollment and program offerings expand. An individual who supports interdependent student-centered classrooms that promote discourse and collaboration. The Criminal Justice Instructor provides standards-based academic and technical instruction aligned with Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Career and Technical Education requirements. The instructor prepares students for careers in law enforcement, public safety, corrections, and related criminal justice fields. This position supports an approved CTE program of study and ensures compliance with state, district, and industry standards. The CTE Teacher will report directly to the School Director with directives from the School Principal and Assistant Principals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with Rhode Island CTE standards, RIDE requirements, and industry practices Teach foundational and advanced criminal justice concepts, including law enforcement, public safety, and legal systems Integrate employability skills such as communication, professionalism, teamwork, ethics, and problem-solving Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for high school students Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and community and industry partners Support program development, including curriculum design, equipment planning, and industry partnerships Supervise students in a laboratory-based instructional environment Participate in required professional development and certification processes Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned and are consistent with this position.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field Three (3) years of successful experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections, public safety, or a related field Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) CTE Certification or eligibility to obtain certification per RIDE requirements (district support provided)
Preferred Qualifications:
Current or former law enforcement officer Master's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field Professional experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections, public safety, or a related field Ability to connect real-world professional experience to classroom instruction
