Apply Today or Call a local Recruiter! 843-573-0772 A Special Education (Exceptional Children) Teacher with Charleston County School District (CCSD) is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Key Responsibilities Develop and implement IEP goals and specially designed instruction (SDI) for students with disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers to plan, deliver, and assess instruction in inclusive classroom settings. Provide accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based interventions to support student success. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and maintain required compliance records. Participate in IEP meetings and communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams. Use data-driven decision-making to adjust instruction and improve student outcomes. Support students across a continuum of services, including inclusion, resource, self-contained, behavioral support, autism, and low-incidence disability programs depending on assignment. Qualifications Typically, candidates must: Hold or be eligible for a valid South Carolina teaching certificate in Special Education. Demonstrate knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes. Possess strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. Skills and Competencies Commitment to inclusive education and equity. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Strong organizational, documentation, and progress-monitoring skills.
