A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

These are onsite, school-based positions supporting students in resource and self-contained educational settings.

Available Openings:
Moderate Intellectual Disabilities (ID) Self-Contained Classroom Provide specialized instruction and support for students in a self-contained special education setting. Develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs). Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student success. Resource Teacher Positions Provide resource support services to students receiving special education services. Deliver targeted instruction based on individual student needs and IEP goals. Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and academic achievement. Required Qualifications Valid South Carolina Teaching Licensure with Special Education Certification Experience working with special education students in resource and/or self-contained settings preferred. Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring. Key Responsibilities Deliver specialized instruction aligned with student IEPs. Monitor academic and behavioral progress. Maintain required documentation and compliance with special education regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, administrators, and families. Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
