Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity in a supportive elementary environment, making a difference for students in 2nd through 4th grades. We're seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher passionate about individualized learning and fostering inclusive classrooms. You'll work closely with a dedicated paraprofessional in a classroom setting of approximately 12-18 students, ensuring each child receives the support and attention they need to thrive. Ideal candidates bring a combination of compassion, patience, and creativity, and are adept at tailoring lessons for various learning styles and needs. Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Special Education certification required Experience teaching elementary-aged students, particularly in special education settings Demonstrated ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and other staff Strong classroom management and organization skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students in grades 2-4 Work one-on-one and in small groups to provide targeted academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support Partner with a classroom paraprofessional to maximize student participation and success Assess, monitor, and document student progress toward IEP goals Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members Create a positive, welcoming environment where every child feels valued and included
