We are seeking a compassionate, vigilant, and resilient Client Care & Safety Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for individuals entering our facility, many of whom are navigating complex mental health diagnoses and substance use challenges . Your primary mission is to balance rigorous security protocols with deeply empathetic, nonjudgmental client care. You will ensure a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment for clients, staff, and visitors while actively participating in crisis de-escalation, triage, and care coordination. This position requires direct experience working with individuals experiencing acute mental health crises and substance use disorders. You must possess a deep understanding of trauma-informed care and demonstrate the ability to maintain composure, empathy, and strict professional boundaries when interacting with highly agitated or vulnerable populations. Key Responsibilities Compassionate Client Care & Triage Support a welcoming, nonjudgmental atmosphere that respects the dignity and autonomy of all clients. Conduct initial triage of clients upon arrival to determine the urgency of their needs and direct them to appropriate services. Provide detailed transition reports to identified service providers to ensure continuity of care. Assist nursing staff with the seamless admission and discharge of clients within the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Detox unit. Arrange reliable transportation for clients to ensure they can access necessary external resources. Crisis De-escalation & Clinical Monitoring De-escalate agitated clients across multiple settings—including walk-in, outpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and CSU—using verbal de-escalation techniques and approved safety interventions. Monitor clients in observation who are flagged for specific risk factors or behavioral concerns to ensure their ongoing safety. Coordinate medical evaluations with hospitals for Walk-In Clinic (WIC) clients, follow up on documentation, and communicate status updates directly to CSU staff. Safety & Emergency Coordination Implement and uphold safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for everyone on-site. Perform searches of clients and visitors for restricted items or substances to maintain a safe clinical setting. Properly label and secure client belongings and medications in accordance with facility procedures. Provide safety support on shift by conducting regular facility rounds and monitoring for potential hazards. Coordinate emergency response efforts , including building evacuation procedures and contacting emergency services when necessary. Partner with law enforcement during incidents requiring external intervention, ensuring clear communication and accurate incident documentation. Operations & Facility Support Maintain the facility walk-in log in an accurate, confidential, and timely manner. Monitor compliance with safety policies , intervening and reporting as necessary to maintain adherence. Assist with maintaining the neatness and cleanliness of the building to provide a professional and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Certified training in verbal de-escalation techniques and approved safety interventions. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries. Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to defuse high-stress situations. Experience working directly with individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders and substance use problems. Prior background in a behavioral health clinic, crisis stabilization unit, emergency room, or residential treatment facility.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour
