Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Clarksville, Tennessee Soliant - 3.9 Clarksville, TN Job Details Full-time | Contract 1 day ago Qualifications Working with students with special education needs Classroom Teaching Teaching Full Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Seeking passionate educators with expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction to support students across a thriving school district in the Nashville area. This contract position is full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday) for the 2026-2027 school year, providing vital services to students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Assignments may be at one of several district "hubs" dedicated to DHH services, with some opportunities supporting the opening of a new Middle School program.
Primary responsibilities include:
Delivering direct and consultative support to DHH students across varying age groups (K-12), tailored to their individual needs and IEP goals Collaborating with special education teams, general education teachers, and families to foster inclusive learning environments Developing resources and instructional strategies that enhance student communication and participation Tracking and documenting student progress and contributing to IEP meetings as needed Adapting services to evolving caseloads and participating in professional development as opportunities arise
Qualifications:
Valid Tennessee Department of Education certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction (DHH endorsement required) Demonstrated experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, providing both direct instruction and consultative support Familiarity with K-12 learners and a range of communication modalities (ASL, spoken English, cued speech, etc.) Ability to clear fingerprint-based background checks per updated district requirements Strong collaborative, organizational, and communication skills This role offers the chance to positively impact students' educational journeys and be part of a district known for supporting diverse learners.
