Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students in grades K-4 as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position focuses on an Elementary Life-Skills classroom, providing meaningful instruction and guidance to a small group of learners. Located near Greenbrier, TN, this opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification with a 461 endorsement (required) Experience working with elementary-age students is highly valued Background in special education instruction, lesson planning, and behavior support strategies Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially when partnering with other teachers and support staff
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized lesson plans to a Life-Skills class of approximately 7-8 students (shared caseload with another teacher) Implement IEPs and track progress toward student goals Adapt curriculum and teaching techniques to accommodate various learning styles and abilities Collaborate closely with a dedicated paraprofessional to ensure every student receives tailored assistance Maintain a supportive classroom atmosphere that nurtures student confidence and growth Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency of care and strategies
