Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding career opportunity making a difference for students in the 2026-2027 school year! This full-time, contract role offers the chance to support student growth as a Special Education Teacher across two unique caseloads: one serving 3rd-8th graders, and another working with K-2nd grade students in extended resource self-contained classrooms.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid 461 Special Education License (required) Gifted Endorsement preferred Experience in resource and/or self-contained special education settings Deep understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to adapt lessons to diverse learning needs Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student's unique strengths and challenges Provide differentiated instruction and behavioral support within a self-contained environment Regularly assess student progress, document outcomes, and adjust instructional strategies as needed Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to promote student success Support students in building academic, social, emotional, and behavioral skills vital for lifelong learning Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with best practices in special education This position offers the potential for meaningful impact, working hands-on with students who benefit greatly from specialized instruction and advocacy.
