Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role as a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, providing high-impact support for a high school student in an engaging educational environment. This opportunity is tailored for professionals passionate about fostering growth, enriching the learning experience, and making a lasting difference. This full-time, in-person position is slated for the 2026-2027 school year, beginning August 4, 2026. You'll work a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM CST, allowing you to establish meaningful connections in a welcoming school community near Tullahoma, TN.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid certification for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (state-specific requirements apply) Direct experience with high school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is strongly preferred Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Knowledge of current assistive technology and instructional strategies for D/HH students Collaborative spirit for working alongside general educators, specialists, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized, high-quality instruction in alignment with each student's IEP goals Foster a supportive learning environment that promotes student independence and self-advocacy Track student progress, assess needs, and adjust teaching strategies as necessary Serve as an advocate for D/HH students to ensure access, participation, and equity in the classroom Collaborate closely with educational staff, therapists, and families This meaningful position focuses on supporting one high school student, offering you the chance to build a strong rapport and make a profound impact.
