Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting elementary students as a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom setting. This full-time opportunity is available for the 2026-2027 school year, running from August 19, 2026, through May 27, 2027, and is based near Abilene, TX. You'll play a central role in shaping an inclusive, positive environment where students in both Life Skills and Practical Academics classrooms receive quality instruction tailored to their unique needs. What you'll need to bring: Current Texas Special Education Teacher Certification Experience teaching in a self-contained classroom is strongly preferred Familiarity with curriculum design and individualized instruction for students with diverse abilities Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Dedication to creating a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere What you'll be doing: Deliver differentiated instruction to students in one Life Skills Elementary classroom and two Practical Academics Elementary classrooms Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's learning needs Collaborate closely with support staff, related service providers, and families to foster student growth and success Manage classroom routines while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment Regularly assess and track student progress, making adjustments as needed Participate in ongoing professional development and district trainings Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with highly competitive compensation, weekly pay, and a comprehensive insurance package—including medical, dental, vision, and life coverage.
