Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic elementary setting as a contract Special Education Teacher, working full-time, Monday through Friday, with a dedicated group of students in self-contained classrooms. This role, starting August 19, offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of elementary-aged children by providing individualized support and instruction.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field Valid teaching certification in Special Education for Texas (or eligibility to obtain) Experience teaching or supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities in a self-contained classroom environment preferred Strong classroom management skills and knowledge of differentiated instruction techniques Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Excellent communication skills for collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and support staff A positive, flexible attitude and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and behavioral growth of elementary students
Responsibilities:
Teach and support a caseload of elementary students in two self-contained special education classrooms Design and adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning styles and IEP goals Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to promote inclusive practices Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress, assessments, and behavior plans Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independence Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and strategies for continued growth This contract assignment places you in a supportive school community near Abilene, TX, where your expertise and dedication will be highly valued.
