As a Learning Support Specialist, you will work in small groups alongside the School Director, providing targeted academic, language, and social support for students who need more than a standard classroom can offer. This is not a role for someone looking to manage a room. It is for someone who genuinely believes every student can learn — and who knows how to find the right door when the obvious one is closed. Responsibilities Conduct informal assessments to identify where each student is and what they need next Provide small-group instruction across academic areas, with targeted support in language and literacy Implement accommodations and modifications for students with learning differences Support students with executive functioning, social, emotional, and sensory needs through modeling and structured routines Collaborate with the School Director on differentiation strategies and progress monitoring Communicate regularly with families around student goals and progress Prepare and follow daily and weekly lesson plans, including materials for homeschool days Research and recommend interventions or resources as student needs evolve Participate in staff meetings and required professional development Keep your workspace organized and assessment documentation current Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field 5 or more years of experience in intervention, tutoring, or special education Solid knowledge of common learning differences and evidence-based interventions Strong informal assessment and diagnostic skills Understanding of child development and differentiated instruction Clear background check and fingerprinting Patience and a genuine belief that all students can learn Preferred Qualifications Special education credential or reading specialist certification Experience with specific programs (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, etc.) Training in dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences Current CPR/First Aid certification
