Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
Special Education Teachers:
Hold an active Special Education K-12 and core content certificate Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience Can pass a criminal background check  Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based upon credentials and experience, ranging from $61,800 min to $82,500 max (Teacher salary here), paid out on a 12-month basis. It is your primary responsibility to prepare all students with the academic and social skills necessary to persist and engage productively in their communities. However, learning does not stop in the classroom. To this end, you teach: A set of college-bound, academically and culturally relevant skills that prepares students to be successful in college and the competitive world beyond. A set of social/emotional skills related to how we treat one another, work as a team, and coach ourselves to work through the challenges we face. Your Responsibilities Planning Directs, monitors, and mentors teacher fellows working with students who have disabilities. Performs a variety of assessments and observations to determine the areas in which the student may need extra or modified educational services. Assessment areas may include academic performance, behavior, social development, or physical health. Identifies students' needs and develops related lessons and teaching plans. Develops an integrated plan for the education of each child by collaborating with classroom teachers, parents, psychologists, social workers, and other medical and school staff. Develops individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, setting learning goals and adopting modifications as necessary; ensure each student's activities and lessons are planned and organized according to his/her abilities. Instructional Delivery Develops and teaches lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities for small groups and individual students while meeting the required specifications of IEPs. Implements IEPs, provides ongoing or follow-up assessments, continually tracks progress, and makes modifications as necessary. Collaborates with classroom and homeroom teachers to ensure each student's needs are met and plans are followed. Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study. Learning Environment Procedures, routines, and transitions are clear and efficient, creating a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment. Consistently engages in community and restorative circles with students. The teacher builds trust authentically and cares for the whole child as well as the family unit the child is a part of. Advocates for the needs of students in the classroom. Professional Practices and Responsibilities Ensures programs comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); ensures each applicable student is provided with Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that is properly modified for his/her individual needs. Develops, completes, and maintains all paperwork mandated by local, state, and federal guidelines, laws, and regulations. Meet professional standards in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators and Compass Rose Employee handbook/policies. (e.g., attendance, professional appearance, and behaviors, timeliness to work, meeting deadlines, using discretion with confidential information, using good judgment in performing responsibilities) Set short

Engage in professional learning communities and meetings Communicate with parents/guardians regularly regarding students' academic and social/emotional growth. Exemplify the mission, vision, and goals of the school to students, colleagues, parents, and families. Other School Responsibilities Maintain electronic grade books and timely submission of grades Participate in weekly manager check-ins and observation debrief meetings Provide after-school or Saturday tutoring as well as student recruitment events Attend campus and network professional development participate actively in a minimum number of student recruitment events annually (as determined and network and school guidance). Hold and attend parent-teacher meetings and report-card pick-up.
