PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Teacher participates as a member of the instructional staff in planning for teaching, motivating students, developing classroom climate, managing the classroom, interacting with pupils and evaluating pupils.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned. (Trade and Industrial Education Grades 6-12 or 8-12 with appropriate work approval) or
Texas Administrative Code (TAC) requires that candidates seeking CTE certification based on skill and experience must complete an approved educator preparation program (EPP)
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
OR an Associate's Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
OR a High School Diploma or equivalent, five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian experience; your EPP will review for eligibility
Plus, valid license is appropriate for the assignment
Valid Texas Driver's License
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Experience
Minimum of six semester hours in science
Three years classroom or criminal law enforcement experience
Experience coordinating SAE (Student Activity Experience) plans/projects and competing with students at the regional, state and/or national level (i.e. SkillsUSA or TPSA)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Plan the long and short range objectives for assigned courses
Implement the state and District curricula
Develop lesson plans with appropriate essential elements
Collect and use a variety of information to guide the growth and development of individual pupils
Maximize amount of time available for instruction
Use research-based best practices in teaching and learning
Select appropriate teaching materials using a variety of activities to develop student interest and performance
Establish standards for individual pupils in terms of ability levels
Create a classroom climate conducive to pupil intellectual, social, emotional and moral development
Manage pupil behavior and activities to allow for learning
Communicate effectively with students
Evaluate and provide feedback on pupil performance continuously by utilizing a variety of sources
Teach for cognitive, affective, and/or psychomotor learning and transfer
Maintain accurate student accounting records and other reports in compliance with local and state requirements
Participate in extracurricular activities as assigned
Interact and communicate effectively with parents and school staff
Participate in the planning, presentation, and evaluation of various school activities
Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules, regulations, and practices
Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of the position; however, the supervision of students is required.
