A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact empowering students with visual impairments. This contract position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse caseload and collaborate with a dedicated educational team, supporting the development and success of students throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
Active TVI License through TEA required. Expertise in teaching students with visual impairments. Strong skills in interpreting eye medical reports and conducting assessments. Ability to contribute effectively to
IEP/IFSP
development. Experience obtaining and working with modified standardized testing materials is a plus.
Position Details:
Contract begins 8/10/2026 and concludes 5/28/2027. Work approximately 15 hours per week, across 2-3 days. Pay is offered at $50 per hour, with weekly pay cycles. Support a flexible caseload of students, focusing on tailoring instruction and modifications to meet individual learning needs. Contribute to goal-setting, modifications, and identifying effective learning strategies. Play a key role in functional vision and learning media assessments for new referrals and periodic re-evaluations. Assist with the administration of standardized tests using specialized, modified materials as needed.
