About the
Role:
The School Age Lead Teacher plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 5 to 12 years. This position is responsible for designing and implementing developmentally appropriate educational activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. The Lead Teacher will be in Collaboration with families and colleagues is essential to support each child's individual needs and to create a cohesive learning community. Ultimately, the role aims to inspire a lifelong love of learning while supporting the holistic development of school-age children.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred. Experience working with school-age children in an educational or childcare setting. Certification in CPR and First Aid. Ability to pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a lead teacher or in a supervisory role within a school-age program. Training or certification in behavior management or special education. Strong classroom managemement skills with the ability to maintain a safe, structured, and engaing enviroment. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work as a team and also independently.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and social skills. Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and volunteers to maintain a high standard of care and education. Monitor and assess each child's progress, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's development and daily experiences. Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and organizational policies.

The required skills enable the Lead Teacher to create engaging and effective learning experiences tailored to school-age children, ensuring their developmental needs are met daily. Strong communication skills facilitate meaningful interactions with children, families, and team members, fostering a supportive community. Leadership and organizational skills are essential for managing classroom dynamics and guiding assistant staff effectively. Problem-solving and adaptability allow the teacher to respond to diverse situations and individual child needs with flexibility and creativity. Preferred skills, such as curriculum knowledge and technology proficiency, enhance the ability to document progress, plan lessons, and maintain compliance with educational standards. Must be available from 2pm-7pm or 4pm-7pm
