Role Description The SPED Aide at Monticello Academy is a part-time, on-site role located in West Point, UT. This role supports students receiving special education services by assisting with classroom instruction, individualized learning activities, and behavior support plans under the guidance of licensed special education teachers. Day-to-day tasks include helping implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing small-group and one-on-one academic support, and reinforcing social and communication skills. The SPED Aide may assist with accommodations, data collection on student progress, and preparation of instructional materials, as well as provide support with transitions, organization, and classroom routines. Collaboration with teachers, related service providers, and families is expected to ensure consistent, student-centered support. Qualifications Ability to support diverse learners, including students with varying academic, behavioral, and communication needs. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, and families. Effective communication skills, including clear verbal communication and accurate documentation of student progress. Capacity to follow teacher direction, implement IEP goals, and maintain consistency with behavior and support plans. Patience, flexibility, and problem-solving skills in managing classroom routines and responding to student needs. Basic computer skills for accessing educational tools and recording information as needed. Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred but not required. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or training in education or special education is a plus. Ability to meet any applicable state or school requirements for paraprofessionals or instructional aides.
