Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Shape the future for K-3 students as a Life Skills Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, in-person contract opportunity focuses on supporting students' growth and development within a dedicated classroom for children with unique learning needs. You'll foster an inclusive, engaging environment where every child is empowered to achieve their best.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Current Utah Special Education teaching license/certification is required Experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education setting Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapting curriculum for diverse learning needs Strong classroom management and organizational skills Passion for developing life skills and supporting functional academic growth
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for students in a K-3 Life Skills classroom Adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student goals, focusing on both academic and functional skill acquisition Collaborate closely with other educators, support staff, and families to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student Utilize both evidence-based teaching methods and a positive, patient approach Maintain accurate progress documentation and contribute to IEP meetings and planning Create a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment
