Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role where you can make a true difference in the lives of young learners. Two full-time contract opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers passionate about supporting elementary students in specialized academic settings. Each position is 37.5 hours per week and focuses on serving students in Grades K-5 within small, supportive classroom environments. One role involves teaching a Life Skills classroom for students requiring individualized daily living and communication instruction. The other focuses on self-contained and pull-out academic support, allowing for close collaboration and tailored learning experiences. Both classrooms are designed to ensure manageable class sizes—capped at 10 students—enabling meaningful connections and customized attention. Paraprofessionals are present in both settings, providing essential classroom support so you can focus on impactful instruction and student progress.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education Teaching Certification Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a Life Skills or self-contained classroom Knowledge of IEP processes, accommodations, and modifications Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment Flexibility, creativity, and patience when adapting to student needs
Key Responsibilities:
