Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students with special needs as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant, welcoming school community. Two full-time contract positions are available for passionate educators specializing in special education, with placements in both upper elementary and middle school co-taught classrooms. You'll collaborate with general education teachers and contribute to positive academic and social outcomes for a small caseload of students.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification/licensure (or eligibility for state certification) Experience in co-teaching environments highly preferred Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and differentiated instruction Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to build relationships with students, families, and staff Organized, adaptable, and committed to fostering an inclusive classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized instruction in a co-taught setting to students in grades 3-4 or grades 7-8, with a caseload of fewer than 10 students Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and support differentiated learning needs Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities Maintain thorough and accurate documentation
