Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities await passionate educators eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs. Two full-time contract positions are available supporting elementary students in special education settings. Each position offers a 37.5-hour work week for the upcoming school year. Educators in these roles will work within structured, supportive environments—one Life Skills classroom (Grades K-5) and one self-contained/pull-out academic classroom (Grades K-5), each with a maximum of 10 students. Paraprofessionals are present in each classroom, allowing for collaborative teaching and individualized support to foster student growth.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in Life Skills or self-contained academic settings Strong classroom management and organizational abilities Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive education Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, staff, and families Flexibility and adaptability to meet student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Provide engaging, differentiated instruction in small group and individualized formats Develop and implement IEPs, monitor progress, and document student growth Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals to maximize support for each student Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages independence and confidence Communicate proactively with families about student progress and classroom activities Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing learning opportunities Outstanding candidates will thrive in an environment that values compassion, creativity, and collaboration.
