Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities are available for passionate Special Education Teachers who are committed to empowering students and fostering an inclusive learning environment! A highly regarded school district near Parksley, VA, is seeking to fill four full-time positions for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This contract role offers the chance to make a difference in the lives of elementary and middle school students.
Available positions:
2 Elementary Inclusion (Grades K-5) 1 Elementary Self-Contained (Grades K-5) 1 Middle School Inclusion (Grades 6-8) All roles are full-time, with 37.5 hours per week and dedicated para support provided to assist with classroom success.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification (or eligibility for certification in Virginia) Previous experience working in special education settings preferred Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
Create and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) tailored to students' needs Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff Adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families
