Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher working with students in grades K-5, supporting their academic and life skills development. These full-time contract roles offer 37.5 hours per week in well-supported classrooms, each with a maximum of 10 students and paraprofessional assistance to help deliver differentiated instruction.
Two positions are available:
Life Skills classroom for students in grades K-5 Self-contained/pull-out academic classes for grades K-5
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Special Education Previous experience in an elementary school setting preferred Understanding of diverse learning needs, with ability to tailor instruction Strong classroom management skills Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching Commitment to individualized student growth
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement individualized instruction within a life skills or academic setting Develop and adapt lesson plans in alignment with student IEPs Monitor student progress and document outcomes Collaborate with paraprofessionals for student support Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and instructional planning You'll find a rewarding professional opportunity working with supportive colleagues and small class sizes, helping students reach key developmental milestones.
