Starting at $37/hour (dependent on experience) Position Overview Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher to support students in an ACHIEVE Program serving elementary-aged students in South Boston, Virginia . This self-contained academic program provides specialized instruction and targeted support for students requiring additional academic interventions. The classroom serves up to 10 students and incorporates both self-contained and pull-out instructional models to help students achieve academic growth and success. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals. Deliver specialized academic instruction in reading, writing, math, and other core content areas. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to address student learning needs. Utilize data-driven instructional practices and progress monitoring. Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families. Maintain compliance documentation and student records. Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required. Active Virginia Special Education teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure. Experience working with students with learning disabilities and academic intervention programs preferred. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to create engaging and differentiated instructional experiences. Work Environment Elementary school setting (K 5). Self-contained and pull-out instructional model. Small classroom environment with a maximum of 10 students. Supportive team atmosphere focused on student growth and achievement.
