Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher with two available positions serving elementary and middle school students in a supportive educational environment near Victoria, VA. This role is ideal for educators passionate about co-teaching and fostering growth in students with diverse learning needs. You will work onsite with manageable caseloads—fewer than 10 students in each setting—at both the primary and middle school levels, allowing you to provide personalized instruction and make a tangible impact throughout the school year.
Qualifications:
A valid Special Education teaching certification for the state of Virginia (or eligibility to obtain). Previous experience in co-taught classroom models is highly valued. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with general educators and support staff. Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet individual student needs. Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in a co-taught setting for grades 3-4 (elementary) and grades 7-8 (middle school). Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with educational teams. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and success. Partner with families, fellow educators, and specialists to ensure holistic student development.
