A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Pay Rate:
$41 to $44 an hour Positions are available in a variety of special education settings, including: Resource/Inclusion Programs Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) High-Functioning Autism Programs Elementary School Programs Middle School Programs High School Programs Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction aligned with state curriculum standards and student IEP goals Deliver individualized and small-group instruction in resource, inclusion, autism, or early childhood settings Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Track student progress and maintain accurate educational documentation Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators Foster an inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environment Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavior management strategies Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and multidisciplinary team collaboration Qualifications Required Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, or a related field Ability to support students with diverse academic, behavioral, and developmental needs Preferred Previous experience in special education settings Experience with inclusion, resource, autism, or early childhood special education programs Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation Excellent collaboration and communication skills Why Supplemental Health Care?
