Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting young learners as an Elementary Special Education Teacher for K-5 students in a dedicated self-contained classroom. In this vital role, you'll provide expert instruction to a class of five students with autism and significant behavioral needs, each supported by an assigned 1:1 paraprofessional. This unique environment fosters collaboration and ensures you have the resources to make a powerful difference. The position is set for a leave of absence, running from October through December.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience working with elementary-aged students with autism and significant behavioral needs Understanding of self-contained classroom settings Skill in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to student needs Strong teamwork abilities to collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers Effective communication skills with students, families, and staff
Role Responsibilities:
Create individualized lesson plans and adapt curricula for each student based on their IEP goals Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and positive behavioral supports Collaborate closely with five dedicated paraprofessionals to ensure consistent supports throughout the day Track student progress, adjusting interventions as needed Partner with families, therapists, and administrators to foster student growth and engagement Provide a positive, safe, and structured learning environment This contract role offers compensation in the range of $85 to $90 per hour for travel professionals.
