Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a transformative impact as an Elementary Special Education Teacher providing support to a K-5 self-contained classroom of five students with autism and significant behavioral needs. This rewarding contract opportunity spans October through December, offering a unique chance to help students thrive in a nurturing environment close to South Burlington, VT. You'll lead a team of dedicated paraprofessionals—each student receives 1:1 support—fostering collaboration and individualized learning in the classroom. Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) for elementary grades Experience supporting students with autism and behavioral challenges, preferably in a self-contained or similar setting Strong skills in collaborative problem-solving and communication Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Compassion, patience, and a commitment to positive behavior intervention
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction and behavioral supports to students in a small-group setting Supervise, collaborate with, and provide guidance to five paraprofessionals, each dedicated to a student Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and team members Foster an inclusive classroom that supports varying communication and sensory needs Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and learning This contract position offers competitive pay ranging from $85 to $90 for travelers, reflecting the experience and dedication you bring to this essential role.
