Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students' growth and development as a Special Education Teacher in a contract role for the 2026-27 school year. This position is based in-person and scheduled to begin August 28, 2026, through June 18, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours. The specific caseload will be determined after internal staffing arrangements and will be thoroughly discussed with candidates at the time of interview, offering flexibility based on your experience and interests. Candidates should bring enthusiasm for fostering inclusive classroom environments and a deep understanding of diverse learning needs. Strong communication skills and adaptability are essential, as you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to deliver individualized education.
Qualifications & Experience:
Hold all credentials required by Vermont state guidelines for Special Education Teachers Demonstrated experience working directly with students with exceptional needs Ability to implement and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Strong written and verbal communication skills Deep commitment to in-person instruction Skilled in collaborative problem-solving and advocacy for students' needs
Position Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in alignment with legal and district requirements Teach and support students with a range of disabilities across various grade levels Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and progress reporting Adapt instructional methods to suit individual student learning profiles This role offers the chance to cultivate meaningful relationships and drive positive outcomes in students' academic journeys.
