Woodstock Elementary School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Elementary Special Educator / Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist to support students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth. This unique role combines special education expertise with social-emotional learning leadership to help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. Position Overview The Elementary Special Educator / SEL Specialist provides specialized instruction and intervention services while supporting school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with students, families, teachers, and support staff to promote positive outcomes for all learners. This position requires flexibility, responsiveness, and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of students throughout the school year. Responsibilities Provide specially designed instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Deliver academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports in individual, small-group, and inclusive classroom settings Support school-wide implementation of social-emotional learning, social thinking, and positive behavior practices Assist students with self-regulation, de-escalation, problem-solving, and social skills development Collaborate with families, teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop and implement student support plans Participate on PBIS, EST, 504, and crisis response teams Coach educators in inclusive instructional practices, accommodations, and SEL strategies Monitor student progress and maintain required special education documentation and compliance records Support district initiatives focused on inclusion, student wellness, and positive school culture Facilitate professional learning opportunities related to special education and SEL practices Maintain strong communication and partnerships with families Qualifications
Required:
Valid Vermont Educator License with appropriate Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain licensure
Preferred:
Experience or training in social-emotional learning (SEL) Knowledge of trauma-informed practices Experience supporting student behavior and positive intervention strategies Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills Why Join Us? Compensation This position is covered under the MVEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and is compensated according to the negotiated teacher salary schedule.
