The La Center School District is seeking an innovative, dynamic teacher to serve K-12 students using online learning platforms in the La Center Academy. The current structure of La Center Academy is predominantly secondary-focused, but the successful applicant must possess the willingness and ability to support elementary students, depending on program enrollment and district need. Terms of Employment:
This is a 1.0 FTE continuing position.
This position is covered by the LCEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The successful candidate must be fingered. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Essential Functions:
Ensure La Center Academy operates in alignment with Washington State Alternative Learning Experience requirements, including WAC 392-550 and WAC 392-121-182
Develop and maintainpliant Written Student Learning Plans
Create intervention plans as needed in alignment with state criteria
Document required weekly student contact
Complete monthly progress evaluations
Monitor satisfactory progress
Maintain accurate attendance and intervention documentation
Support required district and OSPI reporting
Verify student eligibility to attend the La Center Academy prior to enrollment
Administer beginning and end-of-year reading and math assessments
Hold daily office hours for student drop-ins to provide academic support, answer questions, monitor progress, assist with online coursework, and help students remain engaged and on track
Conduct monthly parent/student connections
Meet with parents and students to review Student Learning Plans, progress reports, and provide an orientation to the online program(s)
Register the student/parent with the online program
Collaborate with Special Education teachers regarding La Center Academy students receiving IEPs
Attend monthly staff meetings
Respond daily to emails and messages through the online program to answer student/parent questions and grade assignments turned in within a twenty-four hour school day
Track student weekly attendance sending notices and calling parents, if needed
Assist students one-on-one and in groups
Generate report cards
Required Qualifications:
Current Washington State teaching certificate
Thorough kledge of current trends in curriculum and instructional practices, subject-matter content, and data-driven decision-making
Experience administering reading and math assessments to show evidence of learning
Previous experience with online learning platforms
Experience working with Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word) and Gmail
Highlyanized with a strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuratepliance documentation
Previous experience working with Odysseyware and Apex online programs
Willingness and ability to attend ongoing professional development activities
Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability tomunicate professionally and effectively with students, parents and staff
Kledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to support secondary students in an online, alternative, or individualized learning environment
Kledge of, or willingness to be trained in, Washington State Alternative Learning Experience requirements, including WAC 392-550 and WAC 392-121-182
Ability to monitor student progress toward coursepletion, credit accrual, and graduation requirements
Demonstrate a thorough kledge of current trends in education including curriculum and instructional practices, subject matter content, and the effective use of data to modify instruction and improve student learning
Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods
Willingness and ability to attend ongoing professional development activities
Demonstrated ability tomunicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse population of staff, students, families, andmunity members while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor and supporting an atmosp of warmth, cooperation and service to others

Preferred Qualifications:
While the position may include limited support for elementary students depending on program enrollment and district need, the current structure of La Center Academy is predominantly secondary-focused and may continue to evolve in that direction.
Endorsements in multiple subject areas, especially one or more core secondary areas such as English, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies
Elementary endorsement or experience is preferred but not required, depending on program enrollment and student need
Experience working with secondary students in an online, ALE, credit recovery, alternative school, or individualized learning environment
Experience supporting students with credit retrieval, graduation planning, academic intervention, attendance monitoring, and re-engagement
Experience with Washington State ALE requirements, including WSLPs, weekly contact documentation, monthly progress reviews, intervention plans, and ALEpliance reporting
Additional Requirements:
Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and/or pulling and fine finger dexterity are required
May experience prolonged exposure to visual display terminals as required
Ability to lift at least twenty (20) pounds with assistance
Salary:
The current salary range is $61,332-$115,601, plus additional supplemental days at per diem, per the LCEA Negotiated Agreement. Final salary placement will be based on documented education and experience.

This position is eligible for a generous benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their qualified dependents. Employer-paid basic life, long-term disability, and AD & D insurance are available to the employee only. Additional benefits include retirement through the Washington State Department of Retirement and optional supplemental benefits including supplemental life, employee-paid long-term disability, FSA, DCAP, and deferredpensation. Paid leave benefits include two (2) days of personal leave and twelve (12) days of sick leave per school year. Additional available paid leave benefits and terms of leave areerned by the LCEA Negotiated Agreement.
