#062-CRT-03-26: Teacher of the Visually Impaired Special Education 1 .0 FTE Non-Continuing Contract (leave replacement) 2026-2027 School Year

ONLY DESCRIPTION

Ability to perform functional visual assessments and evaluations of the visually impaired. Ability to provide orientation and mobility training to students who are visually impaired. Provide supervision or instruction in Braille and ability to monitor and supervise para-educators in this operation. Ability to adapt curriculum appropriate to needs of visually impaired students. Participate in appropriate activities; support programs and district in-service education programs; attend Evaluation Team, IEP, building, and district meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certificate to teach visually impaired and orientation and mobility. Ability to interact with students, parents and para-educators in a positive manner. Ability to maintain required reports and professional standards required by state and federal regulations. Ability to instruct in the visually impaired unique curriculum. Must be able to provide direct services to students, provide classroom support, consultative/monitor services as required. Have proven ability to maintain record-keeping and communication with parents and staff. May require prolonged sitting, standing or walking for orientation and mobility lessons. Attendance and punctuality are important functions for this position.

In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
