Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Empower students to explore their potential and confidently navigate their academic journeys by sharing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing. In this impactful role, you'll collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families to create a positive, inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of students with hearing differences.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education. Comprehensive knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language and oral/auditory approaches. Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Skilled in adapting curriculum and classroom strategies to suit diverse learning styles and auditory preferences. Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage collaboratively with colleagues and families. Previous school-based or contract teaching experience is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring lessons to accommodate individual educational plans. Assess student progress regularly, updating instructional strategies to promote growth and achievement. Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure accessible and equitable learning opportunities. Advocate for students' needs within the school community and through regular communication with families. Support students in developing self-advocacy, language, and social interaction skills.
