Independence Preparatory Academy is a new, academically challenging, highly structured, and joyful K-8 school in Fairfield, AL. We are on a mission to equip all students with the academic tenacity and strength of character necessary to choose their destiny and create a fulfilling life. We develop empowered learners through agency, purpose, and tenacity. In August 2025, Independence Preparatory Academy opened its doors to 60 students in kindergarten through second grade. We will continue to grow until we reach a total capacity of 485 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. We are actively building a team that shares our belief that with rigorous academics, high-quality instruction, and character development, all students can excel in high school, college, and life. Position Summary The On-Call Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher while maintaining a safe, engaging, and productive learning environment. Assignments may vary by grade level and subject area based on school needs. Responsibilities Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher. Foster a positive, respectful classroom culture. Supervise students throughout the instructional day. Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records. Communicate effectively with school administrators and staff. Follow all school policies and emergency procedures. Leave detailed notes regarding the day's activities and student progress. Why Join iPrep? Requirements Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent (minimum) Previous classroom or substitute teaching experience Ability to successfully pass all required background screenings Strong communication and classroom management skills Preferred Bachelor's degree Alabama Substitute Teacher Certification (if applicable) Schedule On-call, as needed School hours generally between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Flexible scheduling based on your availability Benefits Compensation Competitive daily rate based on qualifications and experience.
