INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE
Responsibility:

Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, assists teacher so that a greater degree of individualized instruction can be attained.

Essential Functions:

1. Assists students individually or in small groups in learning activities. 2. Corrects papers and tests and prepares materials under the guidance of the teacher. 3. Helps motivate students and encourages them to work to their capacity. 4. Performs clerical duties as required by the teacher. 5. Assists with room environment and understands and communicates school rules to students. 6. Operates office and AV equipment as needed at the grade level. 7. Possesses ability to understand, read, and follow oral and written direction.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Assist with record keeping and keeping management systems current. 2. Order materials and supplies under the teacher's direction. 3. Work with students in P.E. program. 4. Instruct students during special events. 5. Ability to assist with class routine, scheduling necessary materials when a substitute teacher is in the room. 6. Consult with teacher on daily and future projects when time permits. 7. Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to understand and work effectively with children, teachers, and other employees. 2. Possess a good rapport with children and an ability to understand their needs and social development. 3. Ability to remain flexible and maintain a professional attitude. 4. Ability to provide clear instructions to children.

Education and Experience:

1. Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent. 2. Ability to pass California State Proficiency Exam.

Physical Requirements:

1. Position requires normal physical strength and endurance for standing, sitting, bending, or walking. 2. Lifting 25 lbs. maximum or carrying any object weighing over 15 lbs.
