Immediate Start Date Available The Organization Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC) is an innovative multi-service non-profit agency located in San Francisco's Mission District. Its mission is to help immigrant families access needed services, develop self-sufficiency, and participate fully as members of the community. Our staff is a diverse and talented team willing to take different and unique approaches to help children, youth and families thrive and succeed. Program Summary The Good Samaritan Child Development Center provides a State-licensed, full-day preschool program for children 2 to 5 years of age. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our philosophy is child-centered, rather than adult directed. The dual-language (Spanish/English) program curriculum is realized through structuring the environment into interest areas, the planning of program activities to meet each child's individual needs, and the opportunity for active participation rather than passive observation. Children participate in developmentally appropriate activities that are designed to develop their social skills, enhance their fine and gross motor skills, encourage creative learning, cognitive development, and teach pre-literacy and skills.Position Summary:
This is an on-call Substitute Teacher position intended to support both Child Development Center sites as needed. This role provides general classroom support. CDC Director will coordinate with hire with notice on scheduling needs. The need for the on-call services will be communicated to the On-call Substitute Teacher via a phone call or text by the morning when those services are required. The On-call Substitute Teacher will communicate when they receive the notification if they are available to fill the need or not. Standards Support children's growth in key developmental areas social-emotional, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical Support Lead Teachers in facilitating group activities Collaborate effectively with Teacher Assistants to support classroom objectives Use age-appropriate positive guidance techniques and model behavior for children Ensure positive teacher/child interactions and peer relationships in the classroom Maintain Community Care Licensing (CCL)standards Collaborate with Lead teaching team to understand and implement developmentally appropriate expectations and design the weekly curriculum Follow all health and safety procedures, including closely supervising children and conducting daily health checks Contribute to weekly developmental observations and DRDP assessments Follow all policies, procedures, and expectations set in the Staff Handbook Assist in maintaining the environment in a clean, safe manner May have custodial duties such as cleaning Stay informed and updated to adhere to all the necessary food safety and food handling guidelines and regulations set out by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 6 months of work experience Works effectively in team environments to achieve shared goals Excellent verbal skills as well as outstanding interpersonal skills Excellentorganizationalskills and attention to detail Must have 12 ECE units Understanding of child development principles, strategies for dual language acquisition, and implementation of project-based curriculum Desired Qualifications Bilingual (English and Spanish) Familiarity with Reggio Emilia-inspired Curriculums Familiarity with CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid Framework Requirements Must complete a full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index). Must have TB clearance, Health Screening, and valid immunization records including influenza vaccination, MMR, and TDAP as required through Community Childcare Licensing.
