Duties & Responsibilities:

ENDORSEMENT REQUIRED
Any Middle School Teaching Endorsement Must be able to build relationships with students with a variety of social, behavioral, and academic needs. Must be willing to be trained in Edgenuity. Must be willing to teach Academic Foundations Must be willing to be trained in Check and Connect Must be willing to work with other building personnel to provide appropriate support to Redirection Program students. Assist Redirection Program students with goal setting for short
  • and long-term success in the classroom and beyond.
Participate in home visits for Redirection Program students when appropriate. Act as a liaison between Redirection Program students, families & school personnel for identified students. Assist students with developing healthy & effective organizational/study habits to be successful in school & life. Must be trained or willing to be trained in Restorative Practice Must implement building-wide PBIS practices in support of building and district goals. Must be willing to support and implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for both academics and behavior. Keep accurate, up-to-date records on students participating in mentoring, tutoring, & school & community activities related to Redirection Program Certified teacher required Other duties as assigned.

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture. Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather. Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Special Qualification Desired:
(Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.) Willingness to accept supervisory duties that are conducive to a positive building environment. Understanding of the need for confidentiality with respect to student and parental rights and for conversations and hard copy information. Experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or willingness to be trained. Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
