Purpose:
The Building Substitute Teacher will support the school district by filling daily substitute positions and providing classroom management, instruction, and support for students.

$22.89 / hour
Calendar:
Based on the 177 Day / School-Year Employee
Daily Schedule:
7:15 am - 3:00 pm with a 45-minute duty-free lunch
Benefits:
Eligible for medical benefits, paid sick leave, and paid personal business leave. TRS participation is required. The contract associated with a Building Substitute Teacher position is an annual contract. At the conclusion of each school year, the Building Substitute Teacher will transition back to the district substitute teaching list. Each summer the district will determine the need for Building Substitute Teachers and will post Building Substitute Teachers positions accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications:
Illinois Professional Educator's License is preferred Illinois Substitute Teaching License is required Experience working with high school students is preferred Ability to work closely with other staff members Ability to communicate professionally with administrators, staff, students, and parents Responsibilities /
Duties:
Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices. Substitute teach 9-12 grade students in various subjects as assigned. Work with individuals, small groups, or the entire class to support the teaching of content. Report to the Substitute Teacher Clerk each morning to be assigned a daily schedule. An assigned daily schedule is subject to change based upon building needs. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned. Take attendance in accordance with district and school procedures. Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives. Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times. Understand and follow all district and school emergency procedures. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interests of the students. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed). Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
