Aug 12, 2026 Job Description Momence Junior High School is searching for a Long Term Substitute teacher for 7/8th Grade Science to join our team.
Qualifications:
A valid and current Illinois State PEL or an Illinois Substitute license or the ability to obtain one. Ability to implement curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods Strong supervisory and classroom management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism Proficient with Google Suite or related software
Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, and implements the Science curriculum appropriate for students in the 7/8th grade Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines Designs and presents individual lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates and grades student performance Monitors students' progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for the upcoming grade level; communicates all progress and concerns with professionalism to guardians and, as appropriate, students, other faculty, staff, and/or administrators; builds and maintains positive rapport and communication with guardians Recognizes and supports diversity and equity in support of school and district initiatives Enjoy working with a diverse group of students of different socio-economic backgrounds Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars as required This position directly reports to the school principal and functionally reports to the other school administrators and district directors Performs additional related duties within the scope of this position Substitite Daily Rate- $135 per day
