The substitute follows established lesson plans, manages student behavior, and supports students' academic and social needs throughout the school day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent. Assumes all other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent. Implement lessons with assistance, as directed by the Lead Teacher or an Administrator, when lesson plans are not available in the classroom. Maintains appropriate records including taking attendance, administering test papers, student assignments for homework, projects and the necessary clerical work required to maintain student records for a teacher who is absent. Helps with individualized and small group for students as indicated by lesson plans and other documentation such as IEP's, EPP's, etc. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information. Follow all school policies, procedures and emergency protocols. Arrive on time and be prepared for the school day. Provide coverage for teachers attending in-school meetings and training. Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree or teaching credentials preferred. Five years of experience.
ABILITY, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Prior classroom or educational experience preferred Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
