Aug 31, 2026 Job Description The Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Middle School Science Teacher for the start of the 2026-2027 school year through mid-November 2026. This position is responsible for providing high-quality science instruction during an extended teacher absence while maintaining continuity of learning and supporting student achievement. Essential Responsibilities Plan and deliver rigorous science instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Develop engaging lessons that incorporate inquiry, experimentation, engineering design, and real-world problem-solving.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social-emotional, and learning needs of all students.
  • Utilize data-driven instructional practices to monitor progress and improve student achievement.
  • Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning and support responsible use of resources.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that reflects the district's commitment to equity and belonging.
  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative measures and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, special education staff, interventionists, and administrators to support student success.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and caregivers regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities, faculty meetings, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Support school-wide programs and activities that promote positive school culture and community engagement.
