Kennedy School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as a Grade 4 Long-Term Substitute teacher for the upcoming school year beginning in August 2026 until the end of November 2026. The long-term substitute will join a vibrant and supportive team that prioritizes collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to the goals of the district, as well as to our students, families, and staff. The John F. Kennedy School is an inclusive community serving over 480 students in grades K-5. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instruction and maintain a positive learning environment for a fourth-grade classroom from August 2026 through the end of November 2026. The successful candidate will implement an established curriculum, foster student growth, collaborate with staff and families, and support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. Responsibilities Deliver daily instruction in all core subject areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Implement lesson plans, curriculum, and assessments aligned with district and state standards. Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students and families. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and educational technology to engage learners. Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, special education staff, specialists, and related service providers. Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records. Communicate effectively and professionally with families regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as appropriate. Follow all district policies, procedures, and expectations regarding student safety and confidentiality. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required. Valid teaching license/certification preferred. Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably upper elementary grades. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Knowledge of elementary instructional practices and differentiated learning strategies. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Perform other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by the building principal and/or District administration, which includes 60 minutes of duties each week.
