Job Description

As a teacher in the Mashpee Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom; align your teaching to the district and state standards; regularly assess students for learning comprehension and modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learnings needs of all students, especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to):

Plan a program of study to meet students' academic, social, and emotional developmental needs.

Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Promote and appreciate diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and/or second language learners. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate objectives to students. Utilize innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence to learn. Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom to develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aids and/or volunteers. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff and school committees. Maintains professional competence through participation in professional growth activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

DESE Certification in the content area

SEI Endorsement

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated experience with elementary learning principles

Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Cori and fingerprint clearance are required
