A Substitute Teacher teaches or supervises classes for teachers who are away on leave or sick. May substitute for teachers at several different schools or school districts. May substitute for one day or for a longer term absence; may follow lesson plans developed by the regular teacher, or work with teacher who will be out to create new lesson plans and assignments.

K- 6 PRIMARY FUNCTION
(S): In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, provides meaningful instruction in order to help students learn subject matter and/or skills for scheduled lessons. Maintains a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Establishes effective rapport with students and manages classroom effectively.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom:
Implements the instructional plans left by the classroom teacher. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives. Maintains a neat and orderly classroom. Records notes/observations for classroom teacher.
