TITLE:
Dedicated Building Substitute (Full Time)•Longfellow Elementary
POSITION OVERVIEW
Portland Public Schools has a Dedicated Building Substitute opening available for the 26-27 school year at Longfellow Elementary. Assigned to a specific school for the entire year, the Dedicated Substitute is onsite daily and able to fill in as needed, assisting with daily classroom functions, implementing lesson plans, and monitoring and supporting students. At times, the Dedicated Substitute may be assigned to the same classroom for multiple days. The Dedicated Substitute plays an essential role in providing continuity and consistency for the students at their assigned school. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for those who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Prior experience working with children
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
Schedule:
School Year, Full Time, 1.0 FTE (standard 7 hour day)
Assignment:
Temporary, not guaranteed to extend beyond the 26-27 school year
Wages:
$28.99• per hour
Benefits:
Eligible for $500• / month toward a PPS medical benefits plan, also eligible for Earned Paid Leave (EPL) as per Maine law • Amounts shown here are 25-26 rates. The rates for 26-27 will increase at the start of the 26-27 school year.
ABOUT LONGFELLOW
Located in Deering Center on Stevens Avenue, between Deering High School and Lincoln Middle School, Longfellow Elementary School is a PK–5 school serving approximately 250 students. We are committed to academic excellence, social-emotional learning, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, while fostering a strong sense of belonging for every member of our community.
