Qualifications:

Valid secondary State of MI teacher certificate with an ESL (NS) endorsement or bilingual Spanish (YF) endorsement. Additional Elementary (ZG) endorsement required.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in both designated ELD settings (pull-out, separate ESL classes) and integrated ELD settings (push-in, co-taught support). Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support English Learners (ELs) within core classes. Utilize the

WIDA ELD

Standards Framework, 2020 to incorporate English Language Development standards. Contribute to grade level data review meetings and Professional Learning Communities. Support meaningful student and family engagement opportunities for multilingual learners. Build upon the cultural and linguistic assets of ELs to support equitable educational opportunities. Implement effective instructional routines based on current research, The SIOP Model, and the WIDA Standards Framework. Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant data for ELs & Former ELs (FELs). Leverage instructional technology to support making content comprehensible and developing academic language for ELs. Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to support newcomer ELs and their families. Administer EL assessments (including WIDA Screener & WIDA Access) and communicate results & implications. Contribute to the growth and development of the EL Program. Perform other duties as assigned.
